Preventive Maintenance

It’s essential to perform preventive maintenance on your vehicle. Not only will it extend the life cycle of your car, but it ensures your vehicle is safe to drive. Moreover, it prevents certain failures or breakages that could lead to your vehicle being towed. You could pay the price if you neglect to have preventive maintenance done on your car. Indeed, expensive repairs could be hard to avoid. You must perform preventive maintenance to ensure your car’s performance as well as that of all its components. In addition, doing so maintains the validity of the manufacturer's warranty. Each type of vehicle requires specific preventive maintenance. The ideal approach is to follow your car model’s maintenance schedule. Therefore, we strongly recommend you check in with your mechanical repair shop at least two to three times a year, so that a preventive inspection can be performed to detect future problems.

Brake Maintenance

Brake maintenance ensures safe braking. Your brake’s life cycle is extended thanks to regular maintenance. We recommend having your car's brakes checked at least twice a year.

Wheel Balancing

Wheel balancing distributes the weight of the wheels and tires as they rotate. Since they reach a high rotational speed and are subjected to high centrifugal forces, balancing them is essential to ensure your comfort behind the wheel. To extend their life cycle, have wheels balanced every 20,000 km, as well as any time a tire needs to be repaired, replaced or installed. Over and above these general recommendations, it’s important to contact your service advisor as soon as you detect one of the issues that lead to wheel imbalance. There are some warning signs when a tire and wheel assembly is not balanced.

Wheel Alignment

It’s essential to perform routine preventive maintenance on your vehicle. In addition to extending your car’s life cycle, it ensures safe driving. It also helps prevent failures or breakdowns requiring the towing of your vehicle. Aligning the wheels on your vehicle involves adjusting the wheel angle to prevent premature wear and reduce tire friction. This makes for a more stable, pleasant and safer drive. Your wheels should be aligned at least once a year or every 20,000 km. You may, however, need to do it before reaching 20,000 km. If your Bumper to Bumper expert notices uneven wear on your tires or unstable handling on the road, it’s time to have your wheels aligned.

Tire Rotation

Tire rotation is essential to maximize your tires’ life cycle. This service also ensures even tread wear. The result? You save money by changing your tires less often. To know when it’s time to rotate your tires, refer to your car owner’s manual. In the manual, you’ll find all the information you need regarding tire rotation for your vehicle. Usually, you should rotate your tires every 5,000 to 10,000 km. During tire rotation, your technician will remove the four tires and then set them in a different position. The technician will follow the schematics set out in your car owner’s manual to rotate your tires to guarantee your tires wear in an ideal and balanced way.

Oil Change

Changing your vehicle's oil is essential. Performing oil changes regularly keeps your engine in good condition. Also, when this maintenance is done by one of our professional technicians, a visual inspection will also be done to detect problems before they become serious and prevent premature engine wear. We recommend you change the engine oil regularly and change the oil filter every time you do so. Oil change intervals vary depending on your vehicle and the manufacturer's standards. You should follow the oil change schedule to ensure your vehicle’s engine operates normally and properly.

Rustproofing

Rust can cause serious damage to your vehicle. Most often, this oxidation problem occurs under your vehicle, affecting its solidity and the life cycle of its parts. However, there are a few ways to prevent rust from forming or slow its progression. For starters, you can park your vehicle in a heated garage and leave it to dry in the sun after washing it. Whether you follow these recommendations or not, it is also important to have your vehicle rustproofed once a year, depending on the type of rustproofing used. Rustproofing gives your vehicle a protective coating. The anticorrosive products and ingredients protect your vehicle against moisture, acting as a barrier. It is a worthwhile investment especially considering it extends the life of your vehicle.
